Cosmetic Injectables

Injectable medicines are known as neurotoxins. These medications are used in aesthetic medicine to temporarily relax the muscles that cause moderate to severe wrinkling. Most commonly they are used to treat frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles in adults. They are also used for a number of other medical conditions such as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), migraines, and severe muscle spasms. Both medications contain a purified protein that relaxes the small muscles that cause excessive contraction leading to wrinkles and other conditions.

This gentleman organized a group injection party night hosted at Cascade. These type of get togethers are great for group discounts.

Although the pain is mild, vibration techniques are often used to help reduce the sting of the injections. If  you have never had injections before, free consultations are often recommended.

“My treatment and overall experience at Cascade was exceptional !!! Amanda’s thorough attention to detail as she performed my injections was so much less painful and stripy than the first treatment I had received from a nice, but also very expensive doctor in Tigard last month !!!”

With a very delicate touch and careful precision, a few tiny injections are made with a small needle in the area you would like treated. Our Practitioners will develop a plan specifically for you that will be based on your preference and treatment goals. The injections are quick and typically not painful. However, for sensitive patients, a topical anesthetic may be used to gently numb the treatment area. The procedure itself takes no more than 15-20 minutes. Our goal is to make you look your best. It’s true.. you can have injections and still have a very natural look without the wrinkles!

Muscle relaxation is gradual, usually starting 24-48 hours after treatment and progresses to full correction within 2 weeks.

For most patients, 3-6 months.

Remain vertical for approximately 2 hours and avoid direct sun exposure for 3 days. Makeup may be used to cover any area of redness after the treatment.

Once you start having the ability to contract the troublesome muscles again, it’s best to schedule your next session of injections. The second treatment will typically last longer if administered before your wrinkles return to their full original state. It is normal for the treatment to start softening after about 2-3 months. We recommend scheduling your appointments about 3 months apart.

If you are pregnant or nursing, have a neuromuscular disease, or you are taking certain antibiotics you should not have neurotoxin injections.

Side effects most commonly reported by patients include mild puffiness or bruising at the injection site (common), headache (13%), temporary eyelid droop (3%). Bruising risks can be minimized by avoiding aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Motrin, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, vitamin E, and high doses of fish oil for one week prior to injections.
