Lipoma Removal in Portland, OR.

Lipomas are non-cancerous fat tumors which grow under the skin. They are soft, often easily move under the skin, and typically do not cause pain. It is common for people to have multiple lipoma growths throughout the body.

Lipoma consists of a benign tumor cells predominantly composed of body fat fatty tissue overgrowth. Patients should not be alarmed at the site of a lipoma as it is the most common type of soft tissue tumor

How Are Lipomas Removed?

During Lipoma Enucleation for smaller benign tumors, the doctor creates micro incisions on the layer of skin laying on the growth. This is done through use of a thin rod shapes scoop and gouge known as a medical grade curette. The curette gives the surgeon the ability to separate the lipoma from the skin around the tumor and effectively remove the entire growth.

Some of these potential complications include:

  • Minimal Scarring
  • Allergic Reaction to anesthesia
  • Seroma or hematoma
  • Bleeding and infection
  • Change in skin sensation

“AMAZING WORK. I didn’t feel a thing and he was very friendly and professional. I felt well informed on the procedure and after care. I would highly recommend to anyone considering a mole removal. I’ve had one on my chin ever since I could remember, it made me so insecure but I assumed it would be a big deal to take off. I was literally in the chair 15 min and didn’t feel anything. I am SO HAPPY with my decision and coming to this office. I may update after the healing process. THANK YOU SO MUCH Dr Muncrief!!”
